December 29, 2009

Well it is almost that time to start thinking about New Year's resolutions. I think alot of people put pressure on themselves to achieve those goals. How about we start by "tweaking" what we want to change. That sounds more doable. Make your goals more flexible and achievable.

To start off instead of saying you will go to the gym EVERYDAY how about starting a couple of times a week to get acclimated. There will be no burnout, therefore, no dropping out. I see it all the time in the gym. By February most faces that I see in January are gone!

When it comes to your diet, start by omitting a few things here and there so you don't have diet deprivation. Remember, everything in moderation.

Make it a goal to be healthier in 2010!

After months of putting up with the pain in my wrist I finally got an MRI and it turns out its a ganglion cyst. I am to the point where it is interfering with my P90X performance. Needless to say I'm not a happy camper. What I do have to realize is not only is it ok to modify to your needs but more importantly to take some time off to heal. I am on week 6 of P90X and I think I am going to trade the weight training days for cardio days until I heal.

It is what it is and it's about acceptance. I won't consider myself a failure but rather someone who is smart enough to know to lay off. Once healed I will come back as strong as ever!!

Have a great day.

Today is my last day of week 5 of P90X! I did Kenpo X!! Tomorrow marks the halfway point and I cant believe how fast it went already. I have come to realize that it's ok to modify if need be. It's also ok if I can't keep up with Tony and others in his Dvd's. I'm not lagging to far behind them but when you have injuries you work around them!

My clean eating journey continues as I am learning more and more about it! I wandered up and down the health food yesterday buying things I never thought I would. I have never felt better than I do now since incorporating a vigorous workout program with pure eating. The two go hand in hand, are linked together as one!

A good diet is not just about losing weight, but about keeping your body healthy and free from disease!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Even though this is a very busy time of year I pushed play this morning and did my P90X Yoga!! That is an amazing workout and it started my day off the right way :)

This is definitely the time of year that makes me appreciate all the good people in my life. I realize it all year long but more so this time of year.

Remember to be thankful for your health and not to put so much focus on the material things in life. Be kind to others and always give a smile, you never know who may need it.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Wednesday December 23, 2009

Today is day 3 of week 5 of P90X! I'm still amazed how this program works. Muscle confusion is where it's at. Our muscles have memory and usually know what's coming next. But with P90X you are NEVER doing the same exercises, Tony really switches it up!!

Eating clean has helped me along the way. Abs are made in the KITCHEN, not the GYM!! Eat a balance of complex carbs, protein and fats (good fats) and you are well on your way to seeing that 6 pack you've always desired!

Make it a great/positive day everyone!

Woke up to tons of snow here in New Jersey. I did my hour and a half of yoga X then shoveled some snow! With all the exercise I do and eating right I had more than enough energy to get out there and shovel. I was thinking that as I was lifting heavy piles of wet snow, that I'm grateful to be strong enough to do this on my own and not have to depend on anyone. Its great to be fit and strong!

Clean Eating

I have been 100% clean eating for 4 weeks now! Amazingly all sorts of cravings go away in such a short time. I have always followed a healthy diet but really stepped it up by omitting anything that isn't in it's natural state. It may take some getting used to if you're not used to eating fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.

The first step is to get rid of any junk food that is in the kitchen and don't purchase any when you go food shopping, its as easy as that. Stick to the perimeters of the store and that is all you need.

Eating every couple of hours fuels your body and keeps you from being hungry. Make sure to have lean protein and complex carbohydrates at every meal. It's also important to eat 2-3 healthy fats a day.

Exercise and calories burned

You would be surprised how many calories can be burned during some activities! Calories burned adds up at the end of the week.

Good morning everyone! Thank God it's Friday! Christmas is almost here and the shopping is near done! Just when you think you're done, you're not...sigh!

With the busy season upon us I can't stress enough the importance of exercise. Exercise can give you more energy than you can imagine..pair that with eating right and you're well on your way to having increased energy!

Make it a great day everyone!
